SeaRover Dive Video

D676 Transect 25 Muddy slope with sparse epifauna, mainly sea urchins and sea cucumbers. Slope inclination fluctuates across the dive, from moderate to steep. P1. Water depth: 19401916m. Feature: Canyon wall

Highlights: Soft coral? Cup coral? Sea pen Fish

Of note: A variety of sea pens including Halipteris and Funiculina.

There is a soft sediment slope, steep in parts with multiple small tubes (possibly polychaetes). Occasional areas of numerous small white echinoids. Midway along the transect, large brown echinoids, including Phormosoma are present. Multiple large burrows, some with galatheids. Anemones include cerianthids, with the occasional Phelliactis. Sea pens and cup corals, including Flabellum sp. are also observed. The large holothurian Benthothuria is frequently observed from midway through the dive. A variety of sea pens including Halipteris and Funiculina also noted.
